Mohammed Abed is a lecturer and final year graduate student in Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He works in ethical theory and political philosophy. As an activist, Mohammed has worked extensively for the rights of the Palestinian refugees with Al-Awda, the Palestine Right to Return Coalition. He is also a member of Alternative Palestinian Agenda, a Palestinian group that organizes around and advocates for a Bi-National resolution of the conflict in historical Palestine. Both groups are members of the University of Wisconsin Divest from Israel Campaign, one of the most active and successful campus divestment campaigns in the United States. Abed has written and spoken extensively about resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the rights of the Palestinian Refugees in a wide range of publications and forums across the United States.

A Street Theatre, demonstrating life in the Occupied Palestinian territories, featuring Palestinian civilians' daily interactions with the Israeli apartheid wall as well as the Israeli checkpoints, the barriers to normal daily living conditions in Palestine.

Two American activists/filmmakers set out to explore the impact of the Wall on Palestinian lives. The perspectives of seven Palestinians shed light on Israel's true objectives with the Wall, and what kind of future between Palestinians and Israelis lie ahead. Discussion to follow, led by Temple student Jacob Winterstein. Jacob has returned from a trip to the West Bank in January.
Life in Occupied Palestine: Health, Education, and the Environment

This event is held in soldarity with the Palestine Solidarity Movement's National Day of Divestment Action. This panel presentation will paint a complete picture of Palestinian life under apartheid and occupation. Specifically, it will be exploring the Palestinian environment, health issues, and education.
Health: Dr. Nader Hebela is currently a resident at the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and serves on the Medical Advisory Board for the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund. He will be discussing the current health care crisis in the west bank & gaza with a focus on how the Israeli occupation has affected the healthcare of palestinian civilians through checkpoints, military incursions, and the destruction of the existing healthcare infrastructure.
Environment: Dr. Linda Hanna, an environmental scientist and adjunct professor at The Johns Hopkins University, consults for both the US EPA and several major corporations. Her major area of interest is environmental risk assessment. In 2004, she spent six weeks at the Applied Research Institute of Jerusalem, an NGO located in Bethlehem. Dr. Hanna's presentation will focus on the risks to human health and the natural environment associated with the current status of conditions in the West Bank and Gaza.
Education: Dr. Kamal Abdulfattah is a professor of geography and serves as the chairman of the Department of Geography and Arab Studies at Birzeit University in the West Bank, Palestine. He is currently a visiting senior research scholar at Princeton University, researching Palestine and the occupations of the Palestinian people in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Resisting Apartheid Through Art

This event will be a showcase of the many ways that the Palestinian people have come to resist apartheid, occupation, and discrimination through the arts. This will feature traditional Palestinian folk dance performances, Arabic music, Palestinian poetry, Palestinian visual arts, and Palestinian foods.

4-12-05 - "Imagine Your Life as a Palestinian". Street Theater presentation consisting of TU students posing in "still lifes" beside giant images of Palestinians suffering under illegal Israeli occupation & apartheid. Each "still life" was comprised of TU students dressed in their everyday apparel & posing in a fashion similiar to that in each photograph. This display enabled onlookers to reflect upon what their lives would be like if they were Palestinian.
3-03-05 - "Palestine Film Series" Screening: 500 Dunam on the Moon. Followed by an open dialouge on the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict.
2-18-05 - "SJP Potluck Dinner & Hookah Gathering". Purpose: to strengthen bonds of friendship among all SJP organizers & activists.
2-17-05 - "Palestine Film Series" Screening: Gaza Strip. Followed by an open dialouge on the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict.

1-31-05 - "Report Back". Hannah Mermelstein, a Jewish-American activist, speaks on her recent experiences supporting the Palestinian nonviolent resistance movement. Co-Sponsored by TU Religion Department, Arab American Student Association, and Muslim Student Association.
11-29-04 - "Die-In". In commemoration of the "International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People". Street Theater presentation consisting of TU students dying by the Bell Tower in order to educate the student body on the sensless deaths (Palestinian & Israeli) caused by the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine. Co-Sponsored by TU Muslim Student Association and TU Arab American Student Association.
11-15-04 - "Peace Vigil". In remembrance of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat & for a Peaceful Solution to the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict. Co-Sponsored by Philly ADC, and TU Arab American Student Association.
